Under the guidance of Chair Christopher Richardson, our NPA School Trustees, Fraser Ballantyne, Penny Noble, and Stacy Robertson are endeavoring to establish a new tone at the Vancouver School Board; one that strives to be civil, constructive and collaborative. In particular, our NPA School Trustees have been working to improve the VSB’s relationship with the Ministry and Minister of Education; a relationship that was strained under the previous board.

The School District’s annual budget planning process is currently the focal point for our NPA School Trustees, as are efforts to get the District’s seismic upgrade program on track. A newly-created project office has now been established to get the seismic upgrades completed as efficiently and as quickly as possible for the safety of students and staff.

Our NPA School Trustees continue to reach out to their Trustee colleagues in a spirit of collaboration to serve the best interests of all school district stakeholders.

Moving forward, a key goal of our NPA School Trustees is to explore partnerships that will enhance the educational experience and success of Vancouver students.

For decades the majority on the Vancouver School board had been using the Board platform to work against various Provincial governments in an effort to promote an NDP left wing government. This approach has not benefitted local taxpayers or achieved what might have been possible had their been a greater spirit of cooperation between the Board and the Provincial government.

Anyway we will find out over this terms to what extent a more cooperative approach will benefit students.
