OLIVER HANSON School Trustee
Oliver Hanson is an advocate, having dedicated his professional career to the pursuit of justice, fairness and equality. Born and raised on the North Shore, Oliver obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree specializing in Criminology from Simon Fraser University in 2001 and thereafter, a Bachelors of Laws from the University of Alberta, before returning home to Vancouver in 2010 to raise his young family with his wife, Laura. Upon returning to Vancouver, Oliver worked for one of British Columbia’s largest regional law firms until he co-founded his own firm in 2014.
As a father of three, Oliver is personally invested in the quality of education, as well as the safety and security, of our students across the district. Raising a family in Vancouver can be challenging for many young families, but our children’s education should not be one of those challenges. A new, fresh voice is needed on the Vancouver School Board to ensure the future success and development of our children – one that can be a strong advocate for families – and as an experienced lawyer and business owner, Oliver has the knowledge and expertise to be that strong, reasoned voice, and the experience to work effectively with the board and the Province.
As a resident of East Vancouver, Oliver spends his free time volunteering during the season with South Vancouver Little League, as an assistant coach of his son’s t-ball team, partaking in the various eateries and patisseries of Vancouver’s Fraserhood, or otherwise chasing after his three energetic children.
